ARTIST STATEMENT
There is a strong relationship between the feeling of needing to understand and the needing to belong. Our need for meaning highlights our insecurity of not knowing which in turn is exploited by the institutional framework of our society.
I hope to explore the gulf between our public beliefs and private desires by creating spaces that lie between abstraction and realism. Through using a strong ideological language that is subverted through a poetic construction of form, the viewer is invited to reach interpretations that unsettle themselves, mirroring the underlying insecurities of dogma.
