Wasted Spaces in partnership with the Brent council is revitalizing disused spaces to connect the old and new of Wembley. The series of installations will provide a trail between Wembley Park and Wembley Central tube station.
Brent’s empty shop fronts, neglected commercial windows and other unloved spaces will be cleaned up, and turned into a platform for emerging artists to showcase their work. The spaces will vary in scale and form to providing unique challenges for each of the participating artists.
One of the focal points of the project is to be as interactive as possible exposing a new community to the positive influence art has within under utilized areas. One such example of this is the planned mobile phone photography competition. This installation in association with Mobsventures will showcase the local community through photography and provide a view as to how they relate to the Wembley district.
The project is due to launch in August 2009, stay tuned for updates.
